Focus Bikes is a German based bicycle manufacturer established by the Cyclocross World Champion, Mike
Kluge in the year 1992, with the company’s administrative and production facilities located in Cloppenburg.
In 1993, Focus Bikes partnered with German’s largest, and one Europe’s top three bicycle manufacturing
companies, Derby Cycle Werke, to develop and produce Focus brand of bicycles. These were then released
in a production line with six variants of mountain bikes, and the production line was later expanded to touring
bicycles in the following year.
The company is well know for spending much time to research and develop a new product, thus end up in
providing high quality bikes. As an example, the company’s very next release was almost after ten long years
in 2003, with it’s first production racing bike, adding the first carbon fiber frames in 2006. In the year 2008, in a
joint effort with the bike maestro Andreas Walser Focus Bikes produced time trial bicycle, followed by a triathlon
bicycle later that year.
After achieving success in Germany, the company made an effort to expand their name in other parts of the
world, Focus Bikes set up subsidiaries in the Italy and the United States and began a continent wide advertising
campaign on the sports TV channel “Eurosport”.
Focus Bikes has achieved many champions in various bicycle events since it’s establishment. In the company’s
first year itself, Mike Kluge won German National Champion, following a runner-up title riding a Focus bike. In
the first ten years of the new millennium the company sponsored champions and teams have won five titles in
different categories, including juniors and women, along the line commenced partnership with Team Milram in
2009 and the company is currently the official partner of Tour de Suisse for 2010 season. The company is really
named right, focusing on the rapid development in a short period of time, which in turn has put enormous effort
to reach the heights.
