Felt Website:
Felt Bikes commonly know as Felt Racing is an American Bicycle manufacturing company based in Irvine
city of Orange County, California. Basically, the company was established in the early 1990s and they
provided the rights to distribute Felt cycling products to Answer, until they had to disappear from the
domestic scene after a fallout between Answer and Felt Racing’s seven long year relationship.
The company relaunched the Felt brand of bicycles independently in 2001 and started developing
various unique bicycling technologies, like the Bayonet Fork, which has been developed for the time trial/
triathlon bikes, where the fork utilizes an external front steerer from the head rube for extra aerodynamic
efficiency and stiffness and the Equilink suspension system for their full suspension mountain bikes,
which tool nearly three years of R&D, testing and evaluation, that provides vertically behind the seat tube
for a convenient ride on inclined surfaces. The company hugely concentrates on the utilization of the
computational fluid dynamics to pass the wind coming from opposite, that increases the speed and wind
tunnel modeling in the designing process of their frames.
Since the relaunch of the company, it has earned an enormous amount of reputation in the development
of the time trial/triathlon bikes, which indeed is one of the best achievements of the company.
In 2007, Felt Racing sponsored the Garmin-Transitions, formerly know as Slipstream-Chipotle bicycle
team. Following the success, the company managed to sign a three-year contract to supply it’s products
to the Garmin-Chipotle cycling team. But lost the Garmin-Transitions team’s tie-up to Cervelo bikes on
August 28th of the same year, where the team’s name was changed to Garmin-Cervelo for the coming
season and the company decided not to continue with any relationship with the Boulder-based cycling
team after the completion of a four year working agreement.
Though, Felt Racing experienced several ups and downs in it’s history, it’s one of the well know bicycle
manufacturer, producing number of quality bicycles spread across Road, Mountain, BMX, Track, Cruiser
and Cyclocross bike categories.
